Artisan Food Centre Review

4-consulting was commissioned by Elmwood College to investigate the development and potential interest in an Artisan Food Centre serving as a centre of excellence for the whole of Scotland.  The concept is partly inspired by the successful Welbeck School of Artisan Food based in Nottinghamshire. Our work established the likely demand and helped inform the viability of the Artisan Food Centre.

The proposed centre would work closely with local employers. Our report established the likely demand through a survey of businesses. This included interest for a range of uses including retail opportunities, training facilities and working more closely with the college and other artisan food businesses.

Fife has established itself a leading European region for high “added value” food and drink products. This positions has underpinned interest in high value food and drink activities.  There are strong similarities between the business base around the Welbeck Estate and the business base of Fife.
