The Business Case

The Business Case is a written summary of the proposed IT investment in terms of its type, costs, benefits, risks and timescales.  The Business Case should be drawn up once the Feasibility Study has been completed.  The Business Case is used as the back-up documentation to the Application for Capital Expenditure (sometimes called a CAPEX application) submitted to the company's Board of Directors or Approvals Committee.

The Business Case should contain the following sections:
