Constraint-Based Estimating

Constraint-based estimating starts by looking at the end date of the project and, working backwards, looks for the costs and time resources required to complete the project by that date.
The key features of cost-based estimating are:

Click

Find the date when the project must be completed
Subtract 20% (that's your contingency)
Find the budget limit within which the project must be completed
Find the labour resources that will, in practice, be available to the project
Calculate the overall project time and costs limits and apportion them to the various tasks
Project Not Feasible If the task is not feasible, look for another way of completing the project
