Project Proposal Document ("PPD")
Sample
Document |
The Project Proposal document identifies the
need for change or improvement to the business. It is important that
the document clearly identifies the value drivers in the long-term
Corporate Plan that will be advanced by the project.
The PPD is normally a short document, no more than 1 - 2 pages, that: |
articulates the vision for the project |
is the starting point for working up a
Project Initiation Document ("PID") |
identifies the probable scope and scale of
the project |
makes an initial approximation of the margin
of benefit over cost |
takes an initial approximation of the
feasibility of the proposal and whether or not the project should be
carried out in-house |
turns the business need into a proposal that
can be evaluated or prioritised |
In the case of large projects, the
Sponsor may have to provide a budget, and commission a project manager, to
carry out a full feasibility and scoping study.
In some cases, it might be appropriate to turn the feasibility and
scoping exercise into a project in its own right. |
