Quality Advisor's Role

The Quality Advisor's role is difficult as it comprises coaching,  compliance and Executive reporting.  In larger organisations, this role should be split.

Coaching

coach sponsors and project managers in preparing Project Proposals
coach project managers in preparing Project Initiation Documents ("PIDs")
coach sponsors in chairing Steering Committees

Compliance

ensure adherence to the project management process by supporting and reporting
ensure that risks of failure are properly recognised and managed
ensure that contingencies are planned - i.e. "what are our fall-backs?"
ensure that sponsors and project managers identify and measure realisable benefits properly
ensure that proper testing protocols are planned and conducted
ensure that processes and decisions are auditable

Reporting

regular review of progress of all active projects
collate in-house resource allocations to projects
monitor project inter-dependencies
advise the Board or Executive Management team on - 

-

resource conflicts
- staff resource shortfalls
- overall progress

report overall project progress to project sponsors
